The story of Nightjohn was mainly about the hardships and life of slaves. Living under a cruel slave owner, this reading expressed the desperate attempts at freedom, and what happened to those that tried. In the reading, there was a story told about a strong willed woman slave, who was told to be a breeder. She refused, so she was basically raped. Afterwards, she really no longer had the will to live. She attempted many ways of suicide, such as running away. The character of Nightjohn, was brought to this plantation, to teach reading and writing to other slaves. He was free at one point, but he insists on coming back, because it'll help the negro people get the freedoms they deserved. He says, that once it's written down, that people will never dare to attempt these atrocities again. The hardships and torture of fellow mankind, is a lesson that will not be soon forgotten.
Mascot, a story about, and written by, Malcolm X, was a very powerful reading about the oppression and segregation of black people. Malcolm wrote about the when he was sent to a reform school, and the time he spent with white people. He almost felt like a "mascot", because he was a well behaved, educated, and token black guy surrounded by white people. He also referred to memories, of white people acting like he didn't even exist. For example, when he was in the kitchen, the owners of the place that he lived in at the moment would freely talk in a derogatory manner towards black folks. Malcolm's live changed completely around, when he told his teacher, Mr.Olshansky (not sure about spelling) that he wanted to be a lawyer. His teacher responded by saying that he should try to be something "realistic" and something that negroes could do. This led to one of the most known civil rights activists that we know today.
The Great Debaters was similar and different than the two stories that we read in class. They were all during the early 1900's, when slavery and oppression was very common. At one point, every main character in every story experienced extreme prejudice. The debaters ran into a lynch mob that tried to kill them, in Nightjohn, they were slaves, and in Mascot, they blatantly talked about black people in front of Malcolm. In every story, they talked about how freedom would come in small steps, and how it had to be worked for. The civil rights movement for black people shows just how if one perseveres, one can achieve great things.

i haven't blogged in soooo long.. that's a very bad thing, i continually forget to do it. but it's all good, no more of that. uhmm, this week, we started to read the play 12 angry men. it's a very goood storyline, which kinda makes you think about the morals of people and how easy decisions can be influenced.

this is a perfect example of how prejudice influences the decisions of people.

yessss
well, this week was quite eventful, to kill a mocking bird the movie, was magical. i almost thought it was a defining moment in my life, because this movie/book has changed me.
another thing that has changed me, is this past homecoming. fistpumping to your favorite song while a very attractive female is infront of you, is enlightening almostt. i feel that homecoming is the time where everyone blends, and opportunities are taken. i feel that homecoming is the only place other than a gym where dripping sweat is socially accepable, if not expected. from a personal stand point, i was absolutely drenched in sweat, as if i was running a mile in a very large sauna.
this is what i think of when i think of that night.
Hands up, when the music drops
We both put our hands up
Put your hands on my body
Swear I seen you before
I think I remember those eyes, eyes, eyes, eyes
Cause baby tonight, the DJ got us falling in love again
Yeah, baby tonight, the DJ got us falling in love again
So dance, dance, like it’s the last, last night of your life, life
Gonna get you right
Cause baby tonight, the DJ got us falling in love again

HEYYYYY
well, this week was fairly eventful, sike. but in all seriousness, i apologize to mr. potter for talking when other people are talking, and i promise that i won't make you feel like throwing a podium at me again (: anyways, to kill a mockingbird is getting progressively better, and i actually read it for free time instead of being forced to. i really hope that atticus wins this trial, cause if he does, all h-e-double hockey stick will break loose. i'm ready to find out what happens after the trial. my time is almost up, so i'd like to leave you with a poem written by the late, tupac amaru shakur:
when your hero falls
when your hero falls
- when your hero falls from grace
all fairy tales r uncovered
myths exposed and pain magnified
the greatest pain discovered
u taught me 2 be strong
but im confused 2 c u so weak
u said never 2 give up
and it hurts 2 c u welcome defeat
when ure hero falls so do the stars
and so does the perception of tomorrow
without my hero there is only
me alone 2 deal with my sorrow
your heart ceases 2 work
and your soul is not happy at all
what r u expected 2 do
when ure only hero falls

Kudspa
Why is it that Mr. Potter's class is THE only class I constantly forget to do stuff in?? I am doing this last minute blogg, and i'm going to have to read my book before sleeptimeee.. this is getting quite ridiculous. All I know, is that I hate Desales, and i also hate desales. i wonder how i'm supposed to write 30 minutes worth on this website, so i think i'll just ramble about whatever comes to mind for the next 10 minutes. Jello, is absolutely delicious, but i still have no clue what it's made out of, and that kinda scares me. I've got to go workout tomorrow, because i haven't in a while. Also, i just realized that i <3 kool-aid. ITS DELICIOUS. I wish i could krump.
that would be beyond legit, i also wish that i could create fire from my fingertips. could you imagine the combination of krumping and fire hands?? i don't think you could.
i also wish to grow over 6'3. that'd be awesome. and then i wish i could be in MLB, so i could catch my bat on fire, therefore the ball would catch on fire when i hit a homerun, and krump at home plate.

Late
Yes, indeed this post it late. But what is late? Late is time, but who is to say that time exists??? The Man who invented time, what if he happened to get hit by a rock at that very moment, and just forgot about time? Our perception of everything would be completely different. Time doesn't exist, it's unreal.
Seeing that time is a measurement, who's to say it's a real thing to be measured? In olden days, a kings foot would be a foot, therefore that was right.. But time, isn't something to be measured to me. Time is more of a quality. Good time is something that is enjoyable to you, bad time is something that isn't, and it's as simple as that. But it isn't simple at all. Time is an oxymoron. Time lasts forever, but we're all running out of it. How is that? I don't know, but it is.
This talk about time has brought me to the thought of the past, present, and future. When is the line drawn?? When do you decide, that the present is now the future, or that the future is now the present? Stop thinking about it, and you'll find that there is no present.. It's all about what has come, and what is to come.. As I am running low on tired thoughts, I'd like to leave with a stanza from a poem written by an anonymous man that I do not know..
Life without a purpose
Is a life not worth living
I'm done taking,
I'm going to start giving.
I'll find my purpose
And best believe when I find it
I'm going to savor the moment
and rewind it.
Knowledge and Love is key, don't be locked out (:
